Ukrainian singer Carpetman was nominated for a European Union award

On Thursday, October 16, the European Music Moves Europe Awards announced 15 young artist nominees. Among musicians from all over Europe, Carpetman (formerly Kilimmen) – one of the former members of the Kalush Orchestra – was particularly noted.

These 15 nominees represent the exceptional artists who are shaping the future of our continent’s music. Congratulations and proud that our Creative Europe program supports such initiatives, giving talented artists the visibility and recognition they deserve. It is especially nice that this year the announcement is taking place in Sofia during the SoAlive Music Conference, which brings together the regional talent of Europe with the global music community emphasized Glen Micallef, European Commissioner for intergenerational justice, youth, culture and sport.

The official announcement of the MME Awards 2026 nominees took place within the framework of the SoAlive Music Conference & Festival in Sofia. They were: Anna Lille (Norway), Camille Yembe (Belgium), Carpetman (Ukraine), Della (Cyprus), DITTER (France), Fine (Denmark), florence road (Ireland), Glazyhaze (Italy), Lia Kali (Spain), Lunikk (Bulgaria), Melina (Greece), Might Delete Later (Latvia), Ray Lozano (Germany), Sarah Julia (Netherlands), Sofie Royer (Austria).

Carpetman is a former member of the Kalush Orchestra, who performed under the pseudonym Kilimmen. After winning the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, he began performing as a solo artist. He completely creates his songs himself: from writing the lyrics to producing, he also does choreography. Carpetman wears a carpet suit that covers his face and body, and his true identity remains a mystery.

European Union Award Supported by Creative Europe, the Music Moves Europe Awards is a prestigious EU award celebrating the continent’s brightest new artists. The purpose of the award is to support the international career of musicians, in particular, it helped artists: alyona alyona, ROSALÍA, Dua Lipa and Hozier enter the world arena.

For several years in a row, Ukrainian artists received the award: in 2021, the laureate of the MME Awards was alyona alyona, who additionally received the most public votes in the Public Choice Award nomination, winning a double victory; in 2022, Alina Pash won; and the 2023 Public Choice Award went to Jerry Heil.

All winners will be announced on January 15, 2026 during the MME Awards ceremony at the ESNS festival in Groningen, The Netherlands. A total of seven awards will be presented: five MME Awards, one Grand Jury Prize and one Public Choice Award. Each winner will receive 10,000 euros, and the winner of the Grand Jury Prize will additionally receive a voucher for a “green tour” (organization of ecological tours) for 5,000 euros. The winner of the MME Public Choice Award 2026 will receive 5 thousand euros.
