– On October 16, US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation with the head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, as a result of which the American leader announced their meeting in Budapest. “President Putin and I will meet at an agreed upon location, Budapest, Hungary, to discuss the possibility of ending this “inglorious” war between Russia and Ukraine,” Trump wrote on social media. The Kremlin later said that during the conversation, Putin also told Trump that the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine would not change the situation on the battlefield, but would harm relations between the Russian Federation and the United States.
– On the morning of October 16, Russian troops fired two ballistic missiles at the territory of one of the training units of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Despite the security measures taken, it was not possible to completely avoid losses – there are dead and wounded. It is not known exactly where the strike took place, but the operational command “South” noted that this training unit is located in the rear and “relatively calm” part of Ukraine.
– Ihor Koval, secretary of the city council, became the temporary acting mayor of Odesa. He replaced Gennady Trukhanov in the position.
– Since October 16, emergency power outages have been introduced in all regions of Ukraine due to the difficult situation in the power system. Ukrainians were warned that tomorrow, October 17, the application of capacity limitation schedules for industry is planned throughout Ukraine in the period from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
INFORMATION FROM THE GENERAL STAFF OF THE ARMY REGARDING THE SITUATION AT THE FRONT (22:00)
To date, a total of 146 combat clashes have taken place. Today, the terrorist state carried out one missile and 63 air strikes, used 37 missiles and dropped 125 guided bombs. In addition, the invaders brought in 2,372 kamikaze drones and fired 3,301 attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas.
On Severno-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, the enemy launched two attacks on the positions of our defenders. In addition, it carried out seven airstrikes, dropped 19 guided bombs, launched 182 attacks, including 20 from rocket salvo systems.
Today, the enemy attacked 14 times Yuzhno-Slobozhanskyi in the direction near Vovchansk, Vovchansky Khutori, Kamianka and in the direction of Kolodyazny, Bologhivka, Kutkivka. Two military clashes are still ongoing.
Eleven times the aggressor tried to advance on our positions on Kupiansky direction in the areas of Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Bohuslavka and in the direction of Kurylivka and Borova.
On Lymansky Ukrainian defenders repelled ten Russian attacks in this direction today. The enemy advanced in the areas of Derylové, Ridkodub, Torske, Kolodyazi, Zarichne and in the directions of Druzhelyubivka and Lyman settlements. Three military clashes are still ongoing.
On Slavic direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled three enemy attacks. Units of the occupiers tried to advance in the areas of Serebryanka and Yampil settlements. One battle is still going on.
On Kramatorsk the enemy did not carry out offensive actions in this direction.
On Kostyantynivskyi direction, today our troops repelled 16 enemy attacks in the areas of Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar and in the direction of Kostyantynivka, Stepanivka, and Sofiivka.
On Pokrovsky direction during this day, the aggressor attacked our positions 42 times in the areas of the settlements of Shakhove, Nikanorivka, Volodymyrivka, Dorozhne, Chervyn Liman, Novoeconomichne, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Lysivka, Udachne, Filia and in the direction of Myrnograd, Novopavlivka, Bilytskyi and Balagan. Two attacks are still ongoing. According to preliminary calculations, the occupiers lost 153 people today in the Pokrovsky direction – killed and wounded. Our soldiers destroyed two tanks, one artillery system, 21 unmanned aerial vehicles, two BpLA control points, four units of motor vehicles and one unit of special equipment. Three units of automobile equipment, one unit of special equipment, three artillery systems, three UAV control points and 12 shelters for enemy personnel were also hit.
On Oleksandrovsky direction, our defenders have already repelled 20 enemy attacks near the settlements of Zeleniy Gai, Novokhatske, Sichneve, Sosnivka, Verbove, Novomykolaivka, Ivanivka, Oleksandrograd and Novogrihorivka. Two more combat clashes are still ongoing.
On Gulyaipilskyi direction, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders five times in the areas of Poltavka and Malynyvka settlements. Four combat clashes are still ongoing. The settlement of Zaliznychne was hit by an airstrike.
On Orihivskyi direction, the enemy carried out one unsuccessful offensive action in the area of Stepovoye.
On Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled three attacks by the occupiers. Kozatske was under an air strike.

Now, when Russia is betting on terror against our energy and strikes daily, we are working for the stability of Ukraine.
A meeting with President Trump is scheduled for tomorrow, and we expect that the momentum of curbing terror and war that has worked in the Middle East will help end Russia’s war against Ukraine. Putin is certainly no braver than Hamas or any other terrorist. The language of strength and justice will certainly work in relation to Russia. We can already see that Moscow is in a hurry to renew the dialogue, only after hearing about the Tomahawks.
Peace and a reliable guarantee of security should not have alternatives, and it is important to protect lives from Russian attacks and assaults as soon as possible. Thanks to everyone who helps!”.
