“

It was reported Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn.
The official turned to the police regarding the possible connections of the cartoon “Masha and the Bear” with the Russian Federation. In response, the law enforcement officers pointed to possible connections with the Russian Federation. The department also said that they are ready to take part in restricting content in Ukraine, in case of sanctions against the cartoon.
In its turn, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine signed a letter to be implemented by the Security Service, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting, the National Security Council, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the ICSK and other departments.
On the official channel of the cartoon “Masha and the Bear” there is a link to the VK social network, banned in Ukraine. However, during the transition, there is a redirection to an allegedly neutral domain, without an attachment to Russia.
“The cartoon has a Ukrainian translation, but it is only an adaptation of the content. The imperial narratives have not disappeared: The Times compares Masha with Putin and points out that this may be the soft power of the Russian Federation. There is also a purely economic factor: the money from the monetization goes to the Russian animation studio“, Yurchyshyn wrote.
At the end of August “Detektor. Media” reported that the “Masha and the Bear” channel in Ukraine has the most views.
Cartoons produced by the Russian studio “Animakkord” are published on it. Although the series has been translated into Ukrainian, the channel description indicates the official Russian site with the .ru domain and the page in forbidden in Ukraine, the Vkontakte social network.
Journalists claim that earlier (even after 2014) the animated series was broadcast on the Ukrainian TV channels “Inter” and “1+1”. And in 2017, the State Cinema commission considered the demand to ban the cartoon due to the alleged presence of narratives of Russian propaganda.
In particular, in one of the series, the main character appeared in a hat NKVD – one of the organs of the USSR, whose employees were particularly engaged in the suppression of anti-Soviet liberation movements.
