This is the second consecutive year when the current or former Google workers have been receiving this award. Last year, the former Vice president of Google received the Nobel Prize in Physics, and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was shared by Google Deepmind researchers.
The Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded for “opening macroscopic quantum-mechanical tunneling and quantization of energy in the electric circuit.”
Google in its blog further explains that the researchers have created a “superconducting electrical scheme … with a special feature known as the Josephon transition that can be used to create and manipulate these quantum phenomena.”
“For the Google Quantum AI team, this Nobel Prize is not only a recognition of historical scientific achievement, but also to recognize the basis of our current work in the field of super -conductive quantum computing. The Josephson transitions are the basis of modern superconducting quantum bits (Kubits), in particular, we create. Progress, including a willow quantum chip, which we announced last year and our milestone 2019, which showed that the quantum computer can perform test calculations that are impossible on the classic computer. It is said in Google’s statement.
