Vlad Cherevko I have been interested in all kinds of electronics and technologies since the early 2000s. I like to play computer games and understand the work of different gadgets. I regularly monitor the news of the technology in the world and write materials about it.
The technology was called Electrode-To-Pack (ETOP) and was first introduced in October 2023. Its peculiarity is the abandonment of traditional cells: instead of placing electrodes in separate cells, the company proposes to form a sealed anode and cathode pairs and immediately integrate them into the battery block. This allows to increase the proportion of energy storage materials from 30-60% to about 80% of the total volume.
According to 24m management, this approach reduces the weight and volume of inactive components, simplifies production and reduces costs. The assembly process includes sealing of electrodes, laying, connecting and closing the battery block. The company points out that it is enough relatively small investments to start production, since the whole process can be implemented on one production line.
In addition, 24m integrates its own solutions to increase safety and efficiency: Impervio is a special separator that reduces the risk of damage, and Eternlyte – an electrolyte capable of operating at extreme temperatures. In combination, these technologies, according to the company, can ensure the creation of a battery block with a mileage of more than 1 600 km on one charge.
Earlier, we reported that South Korean scientists have developed a new battery technology, which demonstrates a much higher energy density and a longer service life than modern samples.
