Mercedes driver Alexander Hilik, who beat the cyclist in the Podilskyi district of Kiev before the loss of consciousness, the court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention for 30 days.

Details: As the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office specified, the pre -trial detention was valid until October 31, 2025.

It is noted that on October 3, the detainee was reported suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely in the deliberate leave without the help of a person who is in a life -threatening condition.

The senior group of prosecutors in criminal proceedings is the head of the Podilsky District Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv Dmitry Kutova.

Previously, the driver’s actions were qualified as a deliberate task of the cyclist of grievous bodily harm (Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Articles’ sanctions provide for imprisonment for up to 8 years.

Prehistory:

  • On September 30, the Metropolitan Police reported that in the Podilskyi district of Kiev a man attacked a cyclist for comments on parking on a bicycle path. The victim is in the hospital.
  • It turned out that the striker is 44-year-old Alexander Hilik, who is accused of the purchase of winter form for Kiev territorial defense for UAH 25 million.
  • The prosecutor in court asked for detention of the driver, instead the court chose him a night’s arrest.
  • October 2 Law enforcement officers detained Hilik again, he was going to declare a new suspicion.
