When a teacher’s day in Ukraine in 2025
The Ukrainian Teacher’s Day does not have a constant date – it is customary to celebrate on the first Sunday of October. Therefore, teachers are welcome every year at the beginning of the month, but on different days. It is interesting that it was celebrated in the Union since 1965, but at the international level – only in 1994. It was then that UNESCO recommended to give the holiday of education workers the status of international. On the World Teacher’s Day, a constant date is October 5.
If we talk about what number of teachers of 2025 in Ukraine, this year it coincides with international – October 5. But since the holiday always falls on Sunday, teachers are welcome earlier – on Friday the day before. Traditionally, small concerts are arranged in schools, or teachers in a close circle, in the classroom.
What to give a teacher’s day
On the day of the teacher in Ukraine usually arrange a kind of event. High school students in this holiday release teachers and try themselves in their role – leading lessons among younger students. It is a fun and exciting event that is always positively perceived by students.
Flowers and gifts for the day of the teacher are not obligatory – it is a long -standing tradition and one way to show the grateful and respect of the teacher. But at the same time, it is necessary to take into account both ethical and legal side: it is inappropriate to give excessively expensive bouquets (to avoid hints of corruption), as well as the choice should be made taking into account financial capabilities, because we live in wartime. Some teachers ask their students instead of a gift to transfer money to the needs of the Ukrainian army.
