Details: Magyar appealed to the topic of the Treaty of Treaty and the Hungarian territories lost in the First World War to explain in this example how, in his opinion, Ukraine should act to reach peace.

According to him, then the country was on the side of the defeated and had only two options: either to take up weapons and commit collective suicide, or to agree to the conditions of peace, even if it meant the loss of two -thirds of the territory.
In his opinion, the then government approved the only intelligent, albeit a tragic decision – to keep at least a third of the country and not to sacrifice everyone.
“It was painful? Of course, it was painful. Now Ukraine should give a fifth of its territories. I do not want to point out what Ukraine should do, only I say that our experience shows: peace is sometimes painful. The question is that it is more important – the preservation of the country’s vitality or tied up to several thousand square kilometers.”
The Deputy Minister added that the risk of escalation and its expansion is increasing every day.
“We need peace at any cost,” Magyar summed up.
