Stubb is convinced that a sharp change in Donald Trump’s position on Ukraine has been the result of “disappointment” in Putin.

This statement was made by President of Finland Alexander Stubb by Politico. He did not share the opinion of some European politicians that such a change in Trump’s position on Ukraine shows his desire to distance himself from the end of the war.
“I disagree with this theory. All the data available to us testify to the seriousness of Trump’s intentions … I think he is substantiated by Putin … It leaves no room for interpretation,” Stubb is convinced.
The Finnish President emphasized: “Our dialogue with the US President is open and frank. We are able to interpret Zelensky for Trump, and Trump – for Zelensky. I would say they both are in a good position.”
The publication noted that after Europe approved the 19th Package of Sanctions against Russia, Stubb stated that the aggregate effect had a serious effect on the Russian economy:
“They have ended reserves. Inflation and interest rates exceed 20%. Their growth rates are zero or negative. And they will have to increase taxes. Thus, Russia sees the economic price of war.”
However, in order to persuade Russia to agree to the ceasefire, “we will have to change Putin’s strategic game, let him know that we” only and firmly support Ukraine. ”
The Finnish President noted that Putin is currently testing NATO’s determination, conducting a “hybrid war”, including repeated violations of airspace with drone and combat aircraft. According to Stubba, in such a situation it is important to “maintain calm and show determination.”
Stubb and war in UkraineEarlier, the President of Finland said that Ukraine was needed to bring peace. He believes that Ukraine does not need additional foreign troops. The key task is to supply funding and modern military equipment to confront Russia.
He then added that discussing the question of whether Sweden and Finland should introduce troops into Ukraine are not currently relevant.
