The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union should be supported in order to finally approve this decision.
The Agreement on Cargo Transportation dated June 29, 2022 became one of the manifestations of solidarity of the European Union with Ukraine in response to a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
It facilitates Ukraine’s access to the world markets, providing a smoother transit through EU countries and strengthening trade in the EU market.
According to official data, in 2024 EU imports from Ukraine by road reached 7.7 million tons (+13% compared to 2021) worth € 10.1 billion (+12%). Road transport increased to 7.6 million tons (+11%) and its cost increased by 48% to € 33.4 billion.
The latest version of the “transport visa waiver” was updated in such a way that, in the event of significant violations in the local auto transportation market, its effect could be temporarily suspended in a separate geographical region.
