32, 48, 64? FIFA plans to increase the number of World Championship participants

Infantino had a conversation with the Presidents of Argentina and Uruguay, as well as with Presidents Paraguay, Santiago Penya and Uruguay Yamanda Orsi to discuss the proposal.

The 2030 World Cup will be held in six countries on three different continents – Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay. South American countries are expected to accept one match.

Expanding the members of the participants to 64 teams, probably, guarantees all 10 member countries Konmebol a place in the tournament. Venezuela is the only country that has never qualified the World Cup.
