Burkina-Faso leaders, Mali and Niger said “the ISS was unable to consider and persecute proven war crimes, humanity crimes, genocide crimes and aggression crimes.”
The ISS has not yet responded to the decisions of three countries that have close ties with Russia. Russian ruler Vladimir Putin is under the arrest of the ISS.
African leaders said they want to create “their own mechanisms for strengthening peace and justice.” Military junta control Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger after the coups from 2020 to 2023.

- As part of another coordinated action, all three countries left the economic community of Western African states (Ekocoas) at the beginning of this year. They rejected the requirements of the Ekovas for the restoration of democratic rule.
