Marchenko noted that this year they will still change the budget / photo of UNIANIt is likely that by the end of the year there will be a need to change the state budget for 2025, increasing expenditures on the security and defense sector.
This was stated by Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko during an hour of questions to the government in parliament.
“Indeed, it is likely that we will be forced to change the budget of 2025 again, increasing the resource of the security and defense sector. This decision is caused by a situation on the battlefield. We are ready and will respond promptly, despite the fact that sometimes we have difficult decisions,” he said.
According to Marchenko, appropriate consultations with representatives of the security and defense sector and the First Vice Prime Minister are currently being conducted in search of the best solution, how these expenditures will be directed and when.
“We (MPs, UNIAN) to you, we will turn as soon as the decision is ready and get the government’s support. We have an understanding of how we will close this need, we have a resource in order to close this need. The question is what the format of this support and the time we turn to you,” the minister said.
Increase in budget expenditures is the main newsIn July 2025, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law to increase the budget this year by UAH 412 billion for military needs. The main factors that have influenced the revision of the state budget revenues are the revision of the Ministry of Economy of individual macroeconomic indicators for 2025, in particular the average monthly wage and profit of profitable enterprises, and the increase in actual revenues on individual sources of income.
On August 20, the Parliament approved amendments to the State Budget Law for 2025, increasing its expenditures by UAH 40 billion. The adopted law concerned mainly non -military expenditures. Separately, the decision was provided to support IDPs – in particular UAH 1 billion was redistributed for the construction of new housing or the reconstruction of IDP residence.
