The Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, sent a greeting to the Pope Lion of the XIV on the occasion of his 70th anniversary on behalf of the Synod of Bishops, Clergy and Faithful of the UGCC.
The head of the UGCC thanked the Pope for his parental proximity to the Ukrainian people suffering from war and for his constant calls for peace and the “diplomacy of truth.”
Svyatoslav recalled that the “beloved Ukrainian people” was at the center of the first address of Lion XIV as a bishop of Rome.
He especially mentioned the meeting during the UGCC anniversary in the Vatican, when the faithful felt the sincere proximity of the pontiff. Svyatoslav quoted the words of the Pope: “Life will win death” who have become a strong encouragement for Ukrainians in the fight against evil.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav assured the Pope of the prayerful closeness and devotion of the entire UGCC.
