According to him, in June, the Ministry of Defense applied to the Ministry of Finance for 15.8 billion euros for the next year and 12.8 billion euros for 2027 for military support of Ukraine. But for both years, only 9 billion euros were approved, including 500 million euros, which will be returned from the EU Fund.
This means that the Ministry of Defense is currently lacking 10.6 billion euros for urgent and partially promised defensive projects for Ukraine.
The internal document of the Ministry of Defense contains the following entry: “In order to comply with the limit of 9 billion euros in 2026 there is no additional industrial support of Ukraine with contracts in 2026 and expenses from this year. In addition, measures with contracts of 2026 and payments in 2027 had to be partially canceled or adjusted.”
In addition, the BMVG document does not hide that 9 billion military assistance does not correspond to the ministry. “Initially, the declared amount for 2026 and 2027 was much higher,” the document stated.
At the request of the publication, the ministries denied the existence of different positions on the needs of Ukrainian defense for the coming years. In the same formulations, representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Finance replied: “The indicators taken into account during the budget were agreed by the Ministers of Finance and Defense, so there is complete unity here.”
At the same time, the government “steadily adheres to Ukraine to provide Ukraine with all the resources needed for defense.”
The Ministry did not provide explanations for controversial data in the Ministry of Defense.
