Luke’s childhood was full of difficult events: illness, injury, war, murder of a grandfather, constant stress and experiences for the father who went to the war. Nevertheless, football helped him get away from the surrounding problems.
After staying in the youth clubs “Zadar” and “Dynamo” Zagreb, Modrich made his way to a professional level. Being a player of Zagreb Dynamo, he was leased to the Zrinski club, where he spent the first season (2003/04) at a professional level.
After Modric became the best young player of the year in Croatia (2004), he was recalled back to Dynamo Zagreb. As part of the Croatian team, Havbek spent three more years, and in the spring of 2008, Tottenham made a transfer of Luke, which from the following season became a player “Spurs”.
It was not easy to adapt the larch to English football: the player was surprised by the intensity of training and their number. Initially, the Croat acted in the position of a flank player where he achieved much success. He later returned to the center of the field, received more freedom in the game and was able to play at a high level.
Since 2011, various grands of European football have become interested in Modric. The transition to the Chelsea London was not successful, but he managed to get to the Real Madrid. The contract between the parties was officially signed on August 27, 2012.
Due to the bad game form, the then coach of “butter” Jose Mourinho rarely released a bow into the starting composition. The first Croat performance at the Spanish club was a failure, which is why the readers of the Marca newspaper chose him the worst transfer of La League in the past transfers. Despite his criticism, Croat continued to learn Spanish and get used to the new club.
The turning point for Modrich was the match of the 1/8 finals of the Champions League against Manchester United, in which he replaced and a long -blown stroke. The meeting ended with the victory of “Real” (2: 1), and Luke became one of the heroes of the duel.
Under the leadership of Carlo Ancholotti Luke became the main player of the team and won the first champions League. After Zinedin’s arrival, Zidan real survived the golden era: the club won three cups in the hall in a row, and Modric became the winner of the Golden Ball in 2018, interrupting Ronaldo and Messi hegemony, which have been awarded since 2007.
Since the 2018/19 season, the Madrid club has started a short crisis period. The return of Ancelotti helped the team to obtain two more Champions Leagues, and Modric became one of the few players who won the competition six times.
The last season (2024/25) in Real Madrid Modric spent as a captain. During the campaign, the club has not achieved significant results, which is why the season was recognized as a failure. The last match in the Creamy T -shirt played against PSG in the semifinals of the club championship (0: 4).
Currently, a 40-year-old Croat is a player of Italian Milan, where he will probably take his last steps at a professional level.
In the international arena for Croatia, Luka spent 190 matches, scored 28 goals and gave 31 productive transmission. In 2018, Modrich and the company reached the finals of the World Cup, which gave way to the French (2: 4).
In a club quarry, Modric took part in 845 matches, scoring 89 balls, 141 as an assistant and a 34 trophies:
