This ban was issued after a leaked medical report claimed Khelif is a “biological male”.

The medical report in question was an unspecified gender test administered by the International Boxing Association in 2023.

Khelif appealed the decision at Court of Arbitration for Sport [CAS], fighting for her eligibility to participate in the 2025 World Boxing Championships.

However CAS revealed that the hearing will be scheduled on the agreement of the parties.

This has delayed the process by weeks, meaning the Olympic champion could not be registered in time for the competition.

She has an impressive boxing record of 48-9 despite losing five of her first six professional fights.

In her last bout, she made herself Olympic welterweight champion by defeating Liu Yang at the 2024 games in Paris.

The previous year, Khelif was disqualified from the World Championships in New Delhi just hours before her gold medal bout.

This was because she failed to meet the International Boxing Association’s (IBA) eligibility criteria.

Because of her female passport status, she was allowed to box in the Paris Olympics 2024.

She won gold, picking up an online pile-on from Donald Trump, JK Rowling and millions of others along the way.
