The department said that on August 29, at the initiative of the Ukrainian side, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Matsey Dushchyk met with Ambassador of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs spokeswoman claims that the Dushchyk presented the Ukrainian side of work on a document that should regulate the legal status of Ukrainian citizens in Poland.

Bodnar said that the Polish side assured him that the rights of Ukrainian citizens to accommodate, work, education, social assistance and medical care will be guaranteed after October 1, 2025. According to him, only “separate practical issues” will need clarifications.

The ambassador added that even if the new law is not adopted, Poland will introduce “transitional decisions that will avoid legal vacuum.”

Ukrainian Refugees in PolandRecently, the new President of Poland Karol Navrotsky vetoed the law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens. He stated that “800 plus, only those Ukrainians who undertake to work in Poland should receive.”

Polish journalist Marek Syerant warned that since September 30, about 900,000 Ukrainians in Poland may lose the right to defense, legal work and medical care on a par with the Poles.
