According to the journalist, the basis for persecution was the allegedly conducting “political activity under foreign influence”, in particular the publication of materials on human rights violations in the Crimea and the situation with Crimean Tatar political prisoners.
According to the case file, its reports on social networks and materials in the media (“Graty”, CNN, Newsweek and others), as well as interviews for international organizations, are treated by the Russian authorities as a “foreign agent”.
The Russian authorities claim that in May 2025, the journalist was included in the register of “foreign agents” at the order of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. The journalist should mark any of his content on social networks as “18+” and add explanations, about the distribution of “Inaging”.
In addition, once a quarter, it must submit reports on its activities to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. Currently, Zudiyeva appeals against the decision to enter it in this register.
