The Orthodox Church of Ukraine reported the deterioration of the health of Honorary Patriarch Filaret (Denysenko) and called for believers to pray for a 96-year-old church figure.
According to them, Filaret’s health remains satisfactory, but they also ask for prayers for the patriarch.
Filaret (Mikhail Denysenko) was born on January 23, 1929 in Donetsk region. In 1992 he initiated the creation of the UOC KP, which he headed until 2018.
After the formation of the PCU, he has received the status of honorary patriarch and has been “alone” since 2019 – does not engage in active church activity.
We will remind, Patriarch Filaret sued the Ministry of Culture, which removed from the state registration of the Kiev Patriarchate of the UOC KP.
Filaret also spoke about the ties of the Ukrainian Church with special services.
