The first trailer of “Hamnet” came out: this is the first work of Oscar -bearing Chloe Zhao after “eternal”

The film tells a fictional story from the life of the famous 16th century English playwright William Shakespeare, focusing on a tragic event in his family-the death of the only 11-year-old son of Hamnet. Under the influence of grief, Shakespeare creates a classic Hamlet play.

Shakespeare in the film was played by Irish actor Paul Meskal (“After the Sun”, “All of We are Stranger”, “Gladiator II”), and the image of the writer’s wife Agnes was embodied by his compatriot Jesse Bakli (“Unknown Daughter”, “Men’s General”, series “Chernobyl”, “Chornobyl”).

Also in the tape are Joe Alvin (“Favorite”, “Types of Mercy”, “Brutalist”) and Emily Watson (“Equibrium”, “Little Things of Life”, series “Chernobyl”, “Dune: Prophecy”).

Hamneta’s world premiere will take place in September 2025 as part of the International Film Festival in Toronto. Meanwhile, it should be rented on November 27, 2025, and in the rest of the world – after December 12. Will show the tape in Ukraine, it is unknown.

Chloe Zhao – What is knownThe American director of Chinese Chinese Chinese Zhao became famous for the whole world in 2020 thanks to its social drama “The Land of Nomagists”, which told about the lives of people who lost their homes and forced to roam the US west in wheels, interrupting temporary wages.

The triumph of the tape began with the Venice Festival in September 2020, where the “land of nomads” won three awards, including the Golden Lion. The culmination of the film’s success was the victory in three nominations on Oscar-2021, including “Best Movie” and “Best Director”.

For Zhao, it was the second full -length work after an independent drama “Songs taught me by my brothers” (2015) and Neovesterna “Riders” (2017), which also had a rich festival history and approving critics, but were less noticeable to a wide audience.

After the success of the “nomads land,” Zhao tried her hand at a high -budget cinema, making the superhero movie “Eternal” in 2021 from Marvel cinema, one of the main roles in which Angelina Jolie played. However, the tape received mixed reviews from both critics and viewers.
