Details: The decision on the amount of financial support or volume of medical care for Ukrainian refugees is made by each State of the EU separately, but should provide the Ukrainians with basic means of existence and medical assistance.

“On social payments and medical payments. The level of social and family payments differs from one member state to another,” Lamart stressed.

He reported that, in accordance with the EU Directive, “Member States should be provided if the beneficiaries do not have sufficient resources to provide persons who use temporary protection, the necessary assistance in the field of social security, medical care and means of existence.”

“However, the Temporary Protection Directive does not provide for the amount or minimum threshold of social assistance. Its level remains at the discretion of the Member States,” the European Commission spokesman emphasized.

“The necessary help is provided by directive, but the threshold or minimum threshold is not provided. This is what I can say,” he added.

“Member States have approved the continuation of temporary protection at the Council of Internal Affairs in July until 2027. Having done this, the EU strengthens its unwavering devotion to Ukraine’s support for as much as it will be needed,” Marcus Lamart stressed.

Recall:

  • As reported by “European Pravda”, the new bill of President of Poland Karol Navrotsky, which restricts assistance to Ukrainians, provides access to services and health care only for those citizens who work and pay contributions in Poland.
  • On August 25, Polish President Karol Navrotsky enrolled a new version of the Law on Assistance to Citizens of Ukraine.
  • He also announced a legislative initiative, which in the Criminal Code of Poland equals the “Bandera symbol” to Nazi and communist symbols.
  • Poland was warned in Kiev about the intention to “react” if the Diet forbids red and black symbolism.
