“This is at least prematurely. We know that the issues of contingents have been raised by individual countries, perhaps at a bilateral level. But I repeat, it remains at the infant level,” he added.

According to the Chairman of the Alliance Military Committee, the conditions of deployment of foreign union troops in Ukraine should be determined by security guarantees agreed at the political level.

“For example: in place, who decides whether the Russians have broken the agreement, or are Ukrainians? Who develops the rules of application? What territory should be protected? Soldiers should only monitor or also protect, and if so, what weapons? Nothing is defined,” Dragon said.

European officials discuss the plan for sending British and French troops to Ukraine as part of a peace agreement, with about 10 countries ready to provide their military.

The head of the Bundeswehr Trade Union Andre Wustner believes that the effective peacekeeping mission in Ukraine will require the placement of tens of thousands of soldiers for a long time.
