Slovakia and Hungary complained to the European Commission on the Druzhbi Oil Puppies

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia and Hungary have complained to the European Commission in connection with the attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline, resulting in the supply of Russian oil of countries. In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, the European Commission, in its statement of January 27, 2025, noted that the integrity of energy infrastructure that supplies energy to the EU Member States is a issue of security of the whole Union, and called on third countries to respect it.

“In this statement, the commission stated that it is ready to protect our critical energy infrastructure, part of which is oil pipelines, so we consider it absolutely necessary for the EC to defend the interests of the Member States and the energy security of its citizens, including the citizens of the Slovak Republic. During recent attacks on the oil pipeline, the supply of oil was stopped last on Monday.

Ministers say that after the repair work, the supply was quickly restored, but as a result of the night attack of Ukraine on the oil pipeline near the Belarusian border was caused serious damage, and at the moment an unknown scale of damage, which will significantly affect the supply of oil to Slovak oil refineries.

They believe that due to the last supply attack will stop for five days.

“We consider the actions of Ukraine that seriously threaten the energy security of Slovakia and Hungary, absolutely unacceptable. We urge the commission to immediately support the mentioned obligations and guarantee the safety of supply of Member States,” the letter reads.

• Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto has previously declared an attack on the Druzhba oil pipeline for the third time, resulting in the supply of Russian oil to his country again stopped.
