European countries want President Trump to launch US fighters in Romania as part of US security guarantees to end war in Ukraine, The Times reports.

According to the newspaper, high-ranking European military leaders are discussing the deployment of US F-35 fighter jets in Romania, where NATO is building its largest air base in Europe to restrain Russia’s re-invasion.

NATO is now carrying out aircraft patrol missions over the Black Sea from Michael Kongelnic in Romania, which is the most likely location of American aircraft.

In addition to Romania -based American fighters, European countries want guarantees to further use American GPS satellites and intelligence in Ukraine. They want the United States to supply Ukraine’s Patriot and NASAMS missiles to reflect Russian attacks, as well as permission to flight reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea.

According to Politico, on August 19, a high-ranking official of the Pentagon stated a small group of allies that the United States was planning to play a minimal role in any guarantee of Ukraine’s security.

The statement of the Deputy Defense Minister for Policy Policy Colbei was reported in response to the questions of Evvorp’s representatives at the meeting under the direction of the Chairman of the Joint Committee of Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kane. The leaders of the UK, France, Germany and Finland’s defense agencies insisted that the US side would reveal what troops and air facilities it would provide to help Ukraine support a peace agreement with Russia, the European official and another person who is aware of the negotiations reported to the publication.

On Monday, Trump excluded the deployment of the US military in Ukraine, but said he was ready to provide air support as part of US security guarantees.

According to media reports, as part of the so-called coalition, the United Kingdom suggested that the Typhoon fighter jets in the west of Ukraine and a brigade from 3000-5000 servicemen to train the Ukrainian army. France, Canada and Australia could also send troops to the west of Ukraine.

Russia denies against the deployment of any Western troops. Russian Foreign Minister Serhiy Lavrov said that negotiations on security guarantees without Moscow are a “path to nowhere.” According to him, security guarantees discussed between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul in 2022 are a “very good example” of what the Kremlin will approve.

Security guarantees for Kiev are a key issue in the end of the war. Their discussion became more active after the meeting of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky with US President Donald Trump and European colleagues in Washington.
