Earlier this month, state oil refineries suspended the purchase of Urals oil after US President Donald Trump doubled the duty on all imports from India to punish the country for buying Russian crude oil.
“India not only purchases a huge amount of Russian oil, but also resold most of it in the open market with a lot of profits,” Trump wrote on August 4 on the Truth Social network. “They don’t care how many people in Ukraine die from a Russian military car.”
On the same day, India accused the US and the EU of double standards for trade with Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India states that Washington and Brussels continue trade with Russia, although it is “not a question of vital necessity.”
On August 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India stated that Trump’s decision to introduce additional duties on goods from India through the purchase of Russian oil by this country is “extremely unsuccessful”.
