VIEWERS have shown their love for embattled Strictly Come Dancing with three National TV Award nominations — including one for show favourite Amy Dowden.

Maya Jama, who fronts Love Island and is a panellist on The Masked Singer, will also be thrilled with the release of the NTA shortlists as both ITV shows are up for gongs.

Claudia Winkleman, who co-hosts the BBC show with Tess Daly, is up for a top TV Presenter gong while the dance contest has been nominated in the Talent Show category.

Another possible award pick is saucy Disney+ drama Rivals — which stars Emily Atack — in the New Drama category.

Emily, who plays Sarah Stratton, caused a sensation with a naked tennis game scene in the Jilly Cooper adaptation.

Unlike many awards, only the public vote in the NTAs.

A TV insider said: “The shortlist gives Strictly just the boost it needs, particularly as they prepare to launch their 23rd series this autumn.

“The producers have been buffeted by multiple crises but this shows that, as much as the public don’t like wrongdoing, they love the show and place that above anything.

“With Claudia and Amy also in line for gongs, it illustrates that there are still admired and respected individuals in the Strictly family.”

The show has faced intense pressure following allegations of bad behaviour against professional dancer Giovanni Pernice and contestant Wynne Evans, who left Strictly under a cloud.

There were also allegations of drug taking by competitors, which have seen police called in.

The public has also seemingly lent support at a crucial moment to Gary Lineker who stood down as host of Match of the Day in May after 26 years following controversy over his social media activity.

He has been nominated in the Presenter category along with Claudia, Alison Hammond, Ant & Dec and Stacey Solomon.

Geordie pair Ant & Dec are once again the favourites to triumph in the category — as they have for the past 23 years.

However, their biggest show, I’m A Celebrity, faces stiff competition in the Reality category as it is up against The Traitors, which is also hosted by Claudia, Love Island and Race Across the World.

NODS FOR ‘DAD & SON’

ADOLESCENCE stars Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper will be up against each other in the same category as they are both nominated for Best Drama Performance.

The actors play father and son Eddie and Jamie Miller in the deeply moving Netflix drama, which has been one of the biggest hits of 2025.

They are up against Brenda Blethyn for her farewell series of the detective drama Vera, Rose-Ayling Ellis in Code of Silence, and Tom Hardy in MobLand.

Adolescence, which focuses on a teenage lad accused of killing a girl as a result of toxic internet influences, is also nominated in the New Drama category.

It is facing competition from Code of Silence, Ludwig, MobLand and the saucy Jilly Cooper drama Rivals.

Shows nominated in the Returning Drama category include Call the Midwife, Gangs of London, Heartstopper, Slow Horses and Vera.

Stacey receives a hat-trick of nominations.

As well as being up for Presenter, she has two shows — Sort Your Life Out and Stacey & Joe — up for gongs in the Factual Entertainment section.

But she will have to triumph over Clarkson’s Farm, Gogglebox and The Martin Lewis Money Show Live.

Meanwhile, Gavin & Stacey’s farewell show has earned a well-deserved nomination in the Comedy category.

Funnyman Michael McIntyre also has a hat-trick of nominations for The Wheel, his Big Show and his 25th Year Stand-Up Special.

A final round of voting will now decide the winners, who will receive their gongs at a glittering ceremony at London’s O2 on September 10 from 8pm.

It will be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX.

BREK FROM THE NOMS

BBC Breakfast is notably absent from this year’s shortlist after it faced bullying allegations.

This Morning is also not past recent scandals involving previous hosts, with the new main presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard snubbed.

But it has a Daytime category nomination, and Alison Hammond got a TV Presenter nod, although she also hosts Bake Off and For the Love of Dogs.

Bradley Walsh — hugely popular with NTA voters for years — did not make the Presenter shortlist, but his show The Chase is in the running for the Quiz Show gong.
