Ukraine is looking for an alternative to buying reactors in Bulgaria for the KhNPP.

There is currently no progress in negotiations with Bulgaria on the sale of VVER-1000 reactors for these blocks # 3 and 4 of the Khmelnitsky NPP, so Ukraine is working on alternative options for completing their construction. This was reported by Energy Minister Svetlana Grinchuk during telephone.

“I know that the issue of completion of the KhNPP-3,4 is a sensitive question. There is a really great readiness of the main structures, except for blocks, but we are now working to implement these projects as soon as possible and better and what technology. That is, we will not talk about what technology this technology,” said Hrynchuk.

Answering questions about the consequences of negotiations with the Bulgarian side, which refuses to sell the equipment for the completion of the KhNPP blocks, Grinchuk noted that there was no advancement to any result or plans of the next negotiations, so now alternative options for completing these blocks are now being worked out.

It should be reminded that the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has not yet received an official response from the Bulgaria Government for the possible sale of corps of two VVER-1000 reactors, which were planned to be used for the completion of power units №3 and # 4 of Khmelnitsky NPP.

Earlier we wrote that the day before Viceremier-Minister of Bulgaria Atanas Zafirov statedthat Bulgaria will not sell two Russian reactors from its unfinished NPP Belen because they will still need it.
