Last week, Siyarto accused Ukraine of hitting an “important distribution station of” Druzhba “Oil Puppies in the Bryansk region of Russia.
“This last attack on our energy security is outrageous and unacceptable!” – said the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry on August 18.
Siyarto quoted the words of Russian Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin, who announced that Russian experts were working on “the fastest recovery of the transformer station” necessary for the operation of the pipeline, and also complained that it is unknown when delivery would be restored.
“Brussels and Kiev have been trying to draw Hungary into the war in Ukraine for three and a half years, and more and more attackers of Ukraine on our energy security are also aimed at this,” Siyarto said indignantly.
The Hungarian diplomat stated that the Russian-Ukrainian war was not the war of Hungary and stressed that his country “wants to stay away” while the government of Prime Minister Victor Orban was in power.
“Finally, we remind Ukrainian politicians: electricity from Hungary plays a key role in Ukraine’s energy supply,” he added.
Prehistory:
- The European Commission has proposed to introduce a legally binding ban on the import of Russian gas and liquefied natural gas to the EU by the end of 2027. The proposal includes ensuring that this plan cannot be blocked by Budapest and Bratislava.
- In July, Siyarto declared progress in the implementation of a new oil pipeline between Hungary and Serbia, which was announced earlier in the spring and again criticized the EU for abandoning Russian energy.
