In Ukraine, the procedure of awarding servicemen was significantly accelerated, according to the Ministry of Defense.

“On behalf of the President of Ukraine, the Defense Ministry is introducing changes that provide for a simplified procedure for presenting state awards and their delivery to servicemen. The new order will reduce the time limits and make the awarding process more transparent and effective, ”the department said.

According to the Ministry of Defense, changes in the award process are as follows:

  • two levels of approval instead of a long chain: direct command of the military unit and the General Staff;
  • clear terms at each level – up to 2 days, the total awarding of 8 to 16 days;
  • accelerated transfer of awards after the decision is made: from the General Staff – within 1 day, from the command of the troops – up to 2 days in military units or to the Tax Code (for posthumous awards);
  • simplified structure of the reward letter – removed points that do not affect the decision;
  • During the special period, the Armed Forces Commissioner will have the right to submit the President.

In particular, now the decision -making algorithm provides the following sequence:

  • military unit;
  • the governing body to which it is subordinated;
  • General Staff;
  • President’s office.
