On the night of August 12 to 13, Ukrainians will be able to observe the peak of the Perseidi meteor flow – the most spectacular stars of August, but the visibility will reduce the moonlight by about 80% of the moon’s disk.
Space writes about it.
Perseids occur every year when the earth passes through the plume of the fragments of the Swift -Tuttle comet, and small particles – sometimes not larger than sand – fly into the atmosphere at a speed of up to 59 km/s and burn, forming bright “falling stars” and even “fiery balls”.
In favorable years, the flow gives up to 50-100 meteors per hour, but this time the considerable brightness of the moon will overshadow the weaker flashes, leaving the most vivid.
We will remind, scientists made the first detailed image of dawn from another galaxy.
Scientists also told how many stars dies every year in the Milky Way.
