On August 8, the EU Council has decided to provide Ukraine with a fourth tranche of financial support within Ukraine Facility.
According to Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, it is about 3.056 billion euros. At the same time, the EU Council website states that the total amount is more than 3.2 billion euros.
Funds are intended for:
-
strengthening of Ukraine’s macro -financial stability;
-
support of the work of the system of public administration;
-
implementation of reforms agreed with the European Union.
Sviridenko stressed that this decision is a “powerful signal of trust in the reform course and the ability of Ukraine to ensure stability in the most difficult times.” She thanked the Danish chairman for consistent support and emphasized that each such step closer to Ukraine to a strong state in a single Europe.
The fourth tranche of financial assistance to Ukraine within the framework of Ukraine Facility will be reduced as the state has not implemented all the reforms necessary for full payment.
The Italian government listed the first EUR25 million tranche for the restoration of Ukraine’s energy system as part of a joint initiative with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The total cost of the project is EUR200 million.
