One of the main topics was a loud scandal around two NABU detectives whom the Security Service of Ukraine suspects treason. Krivonos reported that two internal investigations were initiated immediately afterwards, and he personally asked the SBU to provide evidence. “Yesterday, one of them received a corresponding letter from the Security Service of Ukraine,” he said, adding that he intended to receive materials for the second detective.
NABU and SAP executives called on the SBU to publish all available materials for society and the team to be able to make sure that there are grounds for suspicion. “Otherwise, it is necessary to move into a civilized format of investigation and dismiss these employees from custody,” Krivonos stressed.
Oleksandr Klimenko emphasized that the information available to them shows that there are no evidence in these cases, and in the media there are materials that do not give grounds for keeping people in custody. He also expressed fears that under pressure or threats, one of the persons involved may agree to give false testimony.
“Revenge” and pressure on anti -corruption organs
Krivonos stated that NABU’s work already recorded cases of pressure on detectives, in particular after a search on August 7, one law enforcement officer suspected of corruption. “He said,“ Well, wait for a “quarrel”. We will fix everything and pass to the heads of these bodies, ”said NABU director.
Possible attack on NABU and SAP leadership
Another topic of briefing was the likely attempt to eliminate NABU and SAP management. According to Krivonos, there is information that the next stage of pressure can be a “reboot” of management under different reasons. “There are ideas to return former high -ranking officials to NABU through court decisions, there are other absurd plans. We are ready for that, we are track and communicate with society,” he said.
Klimenko supported a colleague, adding that after an unsuccessful attempt to legislative restriction on the independence of anti -corruption bodies, the next step may be to establish a “dependent management”.
