The former spokesman for the European Council President Barnd Leits has become a volunteer in Ukraine. It works from Finest Volunteers.
Leites told about it in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
Leites noted that he seeks to show that Ukrainians are not alone in the fight against Russian aggression.
“When I saw the ruins in Borodyanka and a brotherly burial in Bucha, I promised myself that I would not be a passive observer. I was deeply impressed by this injustice. Ukraine is not just fighting for its own freedom. It protects Europe. Our democracy. Our dignity, ”he said.
Leites arrived in Ukraine at the end of July and intends to stay in the country for almost four weeks.
“Every day is different but always saturated. We often start with weaving camouflage nets, and then proceed to packaging things: clothing or medicines, hygienic kits. Sometimes we conduct English lessons, help in an animal shelter or just spend time talking to the locals, ”he said.
Asked how his family and friends responded to the decision to go to Ukraine, he replied: “Not everyone understood. Someone even called it meaningless. But my family knows that when I decided something, it’s serious. ”
“I came to show that we are still indifferent, despite the war on exhaustion, despite the endless attacks of drones. I deeply admire the sustainability of the Ukrainian people. They deserve our solidarity, ”Leites added.
Recall that the Leites Barpend was a spokesman for the former President of Evity Council Charles Michel.
In 2023, he dismissed to hold the position of Director of Communications of the then Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander de Croo.
Earlier, volunteer Yuri Kasyanov expressed his opinion on the situation in Ukraine.
