The SZR emphasizes that the project of the new law radically changes the approaches to security: the Belarusian army receives wider powers.
Central accent – on the power component. Previously, defense was defined as a set of political, legal and socio-economic measures, now in priority-it is armed protection. According to an upgrade, the army in the conditions of war should not only reflect aggression, but also “defeat the enemy” for the purpose of concluding peace on conditions that meet national interests.
Particular attention is paid to the expansion of the functions of the army in peacetime. The military is officially involved in the prevention of internal armed conflict, participation in the information confrontation “in the interests of the state”, responding to internal crises and crises in allied countries, as well as counteracting border provocations.
Ukrainian external intelligence notes that in this way Lukashenko prepares the army for suppression of protests and strengthening control over society.
In addition, an interpretation of the grounds for announcing martial law is introduced: now it is possible not only in the case of attack on Belarus, but also on the union state or the Member Country of the CDU.
The bill must be adopted in two readings in the House of Representatives and then approved by the Council of the Republic. After that, he will be sent for signature Alexander Lukashenko. After the official publication, the new law will come into force, clarifies Belsat.
On August 7, Lukashenko convened a meeting on the activities of the State Security Committee of Belarus. Among the main topics is the improvement of the KGB, Belta notes.
At the beginning, the self -proclaimed president noted that the event is related not only to the situation that is consisting within the country. “But most of all-with a military-political situation around Belarus.
According to Lukashenko, he is “very creepy”, because neighbors – Poland and the Baltic countries – were allegedly “aggressively tuned to Belarus”.
“The pressure is carried out in all directions. Our special services feel most of this pressure. Therefore, we (in the country), first of all, we pay the most focused attention to the work of the KGB and in general the power block,” the self -proclaimed president said.
Lukashenko also noted that when improving the activities of the KGB, it is not planned to reduce the financial security or wages of employees of this structure. “There is no need to regret money for specific results,” he said.
