Police investigators reported the suspicion of the former chief of the detention center №2 of Taganrog of the Rostov region, who personally ordered the subordinate to torture Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roshchyna.

Literally: “During the leadership of the suspect in the pre -trial detention center №2 in Taganrog of the Rostov region, a system of repressive treatment of illegally detained citizens of Ukraine, in particular civilians, was organized. Among the victims – the famous Ukrainian journalist (Victoria Roshchina), detained by Russian military.

Details: The police noted that in the pre -trial detention center, the journalist suffered systematic torture, humiliation, threats, severe restrictions on access to medical care, drinking water and food, and was deprived of the opportunity to sleep or sit in the afternoon. In addition, physical punishments and psychological pressure were applied to Roshchina, demanding cooperation with the administration of the institution.

Investigators documented the circumstances of the crime, gathered witnesses, restored the chronology of illegal movement and maintenance of the victim, and recorded violations of international humanitarian law.

The actions of the person qualified as a military crime in accordance with international standards.

The investigation proved that these crimes were organized intentionally: the chief of the pre -trial detention center personally issued orders to the subordinates to apply physical and moral pressure on the journalist.

“Aware of its civil status and protection guaranteed by international humanitarian law, he deliberately violated the rules of the Geneva Convention and other international treaties,” police said.

The pre -trial investigation is ongoing. Police establish other people involved in military crimes against Ukrainian prisoners.
