In Moldova, the court condemned the head of the autonomous region Gagauzia Yevgeny Hutsul to seven years in prison in the case of illegal financing of the pro -Russian Party “Shar”.

Details: The decision was made on August 5 by the court of Buyukansky district of Chisinau.

In addition to Hutsul, the former secretary of the central office of the party Svetlana Popan will spend 6 years behind bars.

Neither Hutsul nor Popan commented on their sentences. They were taken out of the courtroom under the police escort.

“This is not a lawsuit, but a public execution … I cannot say that there is evidence, there is a fiction,” said Gutsul’s lawyer Sergei Morra.

He also announced his intention to appeal the decision in the Court of Appeal.

Before the current meeting, police formed a border in front of the court building. Hutsul supporters gathered on the opposite side of the street. At the scene, they also staged a counter -performance.

Prehistory:

• Eugene Hutsul is accused of systematic imports from the Russian Federation to finance the activities of the fugitive oligarch-fugitive party during 2019-2022.
