Ukraine is developing a bill, which provides for comprehensive protection and support of Ukrainians released from Russian captivity.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed about it in his evening address.
According to the Head of State, on Monday he held an important meeting with the former prisoners, after which a separate meeting was held on her. The issues of rehabilitation, the return of documents, the provision of social guarantees, as well as especially sensitive were discussed – the return of civilians who are still held in captivity.
“A bill is being prepared to provide proper protection and recovery after captivity. In particular, it is a captive disease – it is important that such cases are equated with those that have arisen during the service in the defense forces, ”Zelensky stressed.
Presidential Office Head Andriy Yermak reported a decision that has already worked as a coordination headquarters on prisoners of war. And the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko spoke about the prepared measures for rehabilitation of the released.
Also, the head of GUR Kirill Budanov reported on the preparation of new exchanges. The President expressed his hope that all these efforts would be successfully implemented.
More than a thousand Ukrainian soldiers have already returned home from the Russian captivity within Istanbul agreements. Today, another group of severely ill and severely wounded defenders has been released – the state continues to fight for everyone.
Since the beginning of 2025, 184 Ukrainian prisoners have been sentenced to “terrorist attacks” in the Kursk region.
