Ukraine has exhausted the possibility of export to the EU of one of the main dairy products

From August 1, 2025, the possibility of export of milk milk from Ukraine to the EU within the quota has already expired.

The EP was told in the Union of dairy enterprises of Ukraine.

“According to SMPU prompt information, as of August 1, the possibility of making export supply of milk milk from Ukraine to the EU within quotas is already absent,” the Union noted.

Thus, according to the European Commission, as of July 30, the quota (taking into account the volume expected to be distributed) was filled by more than 91 % – the free balance was only about 0.28 thousand tons – with a quota of 2.92 thousand tons.

At the same time, according to SMPU, the volumes of milk milk, which are already expected to be designed on the border with the EU, exceed the existing quota.

“Accordingly, from August 1, it is no more economic sense to direct the consignments of milk milk in the EU – they will have to be turned back,” SMPU states.

The quotas for the import of oil and milk fats will be a little longer. It has already been filled with more than two -thirds.

If the oil exports to the EU are preserved at the same level, the quota may be filled by the beginning of the third decade of August.

These changes have already affected milk prices in Ukraine: in the second half of July, they increased by more than 5%. The reason for this is the process of processors to profit before the quotas are exhausted. Such a trend on the market may change if Brussels does not make new solutions for quotas.

Reference. Oil and milk powder accounted for 89% of dairy exports from Ukraine to the EU in monetary terms by June 5, 2025 (45% – milk).

Only from the beginning of 2025 to June, about 10 thousand tons of low -fat milk and 4.2 thousand tons of oil were sent to the EU.

Recall:

The European Commission has approved the volume of quotas for Ukrainian agricultural products, which will operate from June 6 to the end of 2025 as part of an agreement on the in -depth and comprehensive free trade area.

Earlier, Trade representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka reported that Ukraine agreed to increase quotas for agricultural sector, in particular for milk and oil by 308% and 233%, or 20 thousand tons per year for SMMs and almost 10 thousand tons for oil.

However, there is no new quotas for new quotas, which leaves the market of dairy products in uncertainty.
