At the same time, the minister acknowledges that blocks on new technologies can not only produce electricity, but also partially balance the power system.

She informed that she plans to discuss this issue in the near future during a meeting with the Bulgarian Minister. The minister is convinced that the Khmelnytsky NPP needs to be completed.
“What blocks to do it is the process of negotiations and discussions,” Grinchuk added.
She reminded that the construction of new atomic capacities is a sufficiently long process.
“If we talk about the construction of a new block, it can last 5-7 years. The installation is another period of time-3-5 years. That is, to build a nuclear object from scratch is a long period of time,” the official said.
The remark of the presenter that Russian technologies are used in Bulgarian reactors, she indicated that most blocks of Ukrainian NPPs are “Soviet blocks. These are Soviet technologies.”
At the same time, she acknowledged that there are newer technologies on the market that not only produce electricity, but partially “balance the power system”.
“They not just produce energy, but have 25% balancing capacity. This would allow us to be more flexible. Because now we use mainly thermal and hydrogeneration to balancing the system,” the minister explained.
The Khmelnitsky NPP completion is the main newsFor the first time, the head of Energoatom spoke about the purchase of Bulgarian reactors of Russian production for the completion of two blocks at Khmelnitsky NPP in 2024. According to him, this is required to compensate for the loss of access to the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP.
On February 26, the Verkhovna Rada unlocked the purchase of reactors after long and complex discussions.
At the same time, in early February, the Energy Excellent Energy Herman Galushchenko suggested that the purchase agreement could break through a change in the position of part of the Bulgarian deputies. Later, Bulgaria’s authorities stated that the reactors would not sell, although the Ministry of Energy assured that it did not receive an official response.
The initiative for the completion of units №3 and №4 of the Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant from the very beginning collided with a lot of criticism. Experts pointed out that these reactors were of Russian origin. In addition, no examination has been carried out how much these reactors will fit Ukraine, so there is a risk that they will never work after purchasing.
