Cuban Frank Sanchez (25–1, 18 KO) and Nigerian Effe Azhagba (20–1–1, 14 KOs) failed to agree on the distribution of the prize fund before the appointed date. On August 5, there will be a meeting of promoters and bidding, the winner of which will be the one who will offer a larger amount.
If one of the boxers refuses this match, it will leave the first ten IBF rating and will not be able to spend six months under the auspices of the organization.
The winner of Azhagba – Sanchez will be a mandatory contender for the title of IBF World Champion, who is currently possessed by an invincible Ukrainian Alexander Usik.
It is worth noting that the boxers had already crossed the professional ring – in October 2021, Sanchez defeated Azhagbo a unanimous decision of the judges.
Earlier, the World Boxing Organization also appointed a rival for Usik – it became a new Zealander Joseph Parker.
