Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Butherin told why he decided to create a blockchain platform open, unlike Satoshi Nakamoto. According to him, it was conditioned The 2013 context and the desire to form trust.

The sandpaper was 19 when he started working on Ethereum. He confessed that he did not think about anonymity at the time – rather because of enthusiasm and lack of experience.

“I was just a passionate idea of a guy and didn’t think about hiding my personality,” he explained.

However, the key was the need to publicly interact with developers, investors and community.

“Publicity helped. I could speak at conferences, convey the essence of Ethereum and build trust. Anonymity could prevent the community from creating an initial stage, ”Buther said.

He also emphasized the difference in context. In 2008, when bitcoin started, cryptocurrencies were a risky experiment, and the reaction of states was unpredictable. By 2013, the situation had changed, which made it possible to act openly.

Butherin outlined two strategic goals of the project: scalability and value. He is convinced that a technical roadmap will help you achieve it.

“Ethereum has two leading stars. The first is to be a widely used scaled platform. The second is to be really valuable, that is, much safer and decentralized than traditional systems, ”he explained.

According to him, the platform will lose meaning if it is not able to process millions of transactions or look like traditional finances.

To achieve the scalability of Ethereum develops the first and second level solutions. The L1 introduces preliminary confirmation of blocks, access lists and decentralized storage. On L2 – Expand Use BlobPerdas and zero disclosure proof technologies-ZK-Snarks and Starks. They allow you to reach millions of transactions per second without safety.

Butherin also mentioned a bitcoin restriction:

“The main thing, as for me, Satoshi did not take into account – it is asymmetry between creation and verification.”

In the Bitcoin network, generation and verification of blocks are equally resource. Instead, Ethereum using ZK Dokases and data sampling can transmit a heavy load of generators, simplifying the check for others. This increases availability and decentralization.

One of the negative examples, he called the use of castodial wallets in Lightning Network in Salvador, which reduced decentralization. As an alternative, Butherin offers a model of hubs:

“A solution is a model of hubs where several powerful nodes concentrate evidence and the verification remains decentralized.”

Such L2-rolls carry calculations beyond the main blockchain, but confirm them on L1, retaining the same guarantees. Data sampling allows you to check correctness without loading full information, which increases scalability without loss of decentralization.

“We want to continue to improve Ethereum – to make it more accessible, safer and useful for everyone,” the Buther summed up.

Recall that on May 7, the Ethereum network activated a large PECTRA update. In July, it became known that Hardunf Fusaka was scheduled for November.
