Details: The Prosecutor General’s Office reports that the systemic military crimes of the Russian Federation against prisoners of war and civilians are currently investigating.
Prosecutors carry out procedural guidance in a number of criminal proceedings on the facts of ill -treatment with prisoners of war and civilians (Part 1, 2, Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the results of the investigation:
- More than 11,000 people were illegally detained;
- recognized as victims: more than 5,000 military and more than 5 600 civilians;
- 534 persons were informed;
- The indictment was sent to court against 365 persons;
- Already 117 were convicted of indictment.
Investigations testify – crimes were systemic, based on discrimination on national and linguistic grounds, were planned and coordinated by representatives of the authorities of the aggressor country.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, in the temporarily occupied territories and in the Russian Federation it was found:
- 176 landmarks;
- More than 120 temporary (transit) retention points.
The detainees there were systematically tortured: they were beaten, electric shock, used service dogs, strangled, hung, imitated execution, resorted to sexual violence. There are cases of causing injuries, burns, psychological abuse.
In the course of the investigation of crimes committed in places of freedom, more than 45 employees of the Federal Service of Penalty of the Russian Federation were reported. Among the suspects are the heads of Russian pre -trial detention centers and colonies (Kursk, Old Oskin, Pakino), as well as heads of institutions for Tot (Suhodilsk, Volnovakha colonies).
According to OGP, the mass murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war in a colony in Olenivka remains especially terrible: at least 50 people were killed on the night of July 28 to July 29, 2022, and another 140 were injured. The leadership of the colony was informed of suspicion of leaving the wounded without medical assistance, which led to the death of 9 other Ukrainian soldiers.
These crimes are a gross violation of international humanitarian law, Geneva conventions and all humanity norms. They have no limitation period, resemble prosecutors.
