People’s Deputies began to recognize a mistake in voting for the NABU law

Some MPs acknowledged that they were mistaken by vote in favor of a law that limits the powers of NABU and SAP anti -corruption bodies.

Details: People’s Deputy from Voice Tashev wrote that her vote “for” caused “many angry and emotional reactions, including curses.” She also added that she supports the bill #13533, which restores all the procedural powers and guarantees of independence of NABU and SAP.

Details: The People’s Deputy “Servants of the People” Beleniuk also wrote that he was mistaken and “feels personal responsibility and does not seek excuses.”

“My task now is to help correct the situation as quickly and transparently as possible,” he added.

The Servant MP explained that he believed that the bill No. 12414 “would help optimize the distribution of load between law enforcement agencies” so that NABU and SAP focus on high priority cases.

In addition, he “thought that the text was agreed with partners at the highest level.” He also added that the vote was waiting for a new bill.

The deputy of the tanks from the “servant of the people” also wrote that in politics there are false decisions.

“The power of democracy is that society has a voice and politicians have to hear this voice! I expect a presidential bill,” he added.

The deputy of the “servant of the people” Modk added that “personally considers his vote for #12414 the first serious miscalculation during the cadence” and will vote for the correction of the situation.

• The SBU and OGP staff conducted approximately 80 searches for 19 NABU staff in different regions of Ukraine on July 21.
• The next day, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Law No. 12414 as amended to the Criminal Procedure Code, according to which NABU and SAPs become dependent on the decisions of the Prosecutor General. On the evening of July 22, Zelensky signed the document.
• In many cities of Ukraine, protests have taken place after this legislative initiative was adopted.
