According to the French diplomat, Ukraine showed that five months ago it was ready for an unconditional ceasefire for 30 days, responding to the US proposal. However, the Russian Federation is still awaiting such an answer.
“But negotiations should take into account the positions and interests of both parties. Negotiations are not subjugating one side to the other.
The French Minister also stressed:
“We remember negotiations in 2022, which were continued, but were interrupted by atrocities in Bucha, Izium and demonstrated the insincerity of the Russian President.”
In addition, Barro added that immediately after the EU approval, 18 packages of sanctions against Russia asked his team to start working on new ones to force the Russian Federation to negotiate when US President Donald Trump put forward Moscow 50-day ultimatum.
Peace talks are the latest newsEarlier, Russian Presidential President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the Kyiv’s initiative to restore the dialogue, confirmed the country’s readiness for the third round. He also commented on the projects of the memorandums that the parties exchanged.
“There is our memorandum project and there is a memorandum project that has been transmitted by the Ukrainian side. There should be an exchange of views and negotiations on these two projections, which are still completely diametrically opposite,” Peskov said.

According to journalists, the parties will discuss technical topics: exchange of prisoners, humanitarian aid, infrastructure safety and measures to stabilize borders.
The publication emphasized that active preparation for the meeting is currently underway, namely locations are determined, logistics is organized, security measures are being implemented.
