Details: It is noted that women are usually involved in communications, logistics and health care units.
Among those convicts who are now in the Armed Forces, 55% were convicted of property crimes, 11% for crimes related to drug trafficking; 9% – for injury; 6% – for accidents with victims and 6% – for murder.
Prehistory:
- On May 8, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that provides for voluntary mobilization of certain categories of prisoners.
- It was reported that the ranks of defense forces could not be mobilized persons who committed premeditated murders, rapists, pedophiles, convicted for illegal production, purchase, distribution or storage of drugs, those who committed crimes against the basics of national security of Ukraine, as well as exponents.
- For all others who can potentially be mobilized, the same condition is applied – until the end of their punishment should be no more than three years.
- In July 2024, the Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Roman Kostenko stated that 3.8 thousand released prisoners who signed a contract with the Armed Forces were already serving in the Armed Forces.
