The Supreme Court of Ukraine confirmed the legality of the decision of the courts of previous instances on the confiscation of the Mercedes-Benz G400 D car worth UAH 5.65 million of the head of the Migration Control Department of the State Customs Service of Ukraine in Odessa region.

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation together with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine found that the head of the Migration Control Department of the State Customs Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region purchased and issued a Mercedes-Benz G400 D worth UAH 5.65 million for its mother in 2023. As noted in the DBR nor the official income of the official, nor his mother’s income allowed to make such a purchase. The investigation showed that in fact the car was used by the official and his close persons, which testifies to his real right to dispose of this asset.
On June 6, 2024, the DBR exposed the officials of the Migration Service in Odesa, who “earned” on foreigners. In particular, they took $ 20,000 for the help of a native of the Republic of Moldova, who is in Ukraine.
During the searches at the place of work and residence of officials, funds (including cryptocurrency) were found, jewelry and other property worth at least UAH 140 million, the value of which is much higher than their legal earnings. According to preliminary estimates, only 3 million UAH is worth the preliminary estimates.
In addition to the confiscated Mercedes, the official found a 200 square meter -owned elite house. According to the annual declaration for 2023, the official received a salary for a total amount of 345 thousand UAH.
The State Bureau of Investigation submitted the relevant materials to the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, which appealed to the Supreme Anti -Corruption Court with a claim for the recognition of assets acquired by the official, unjustified.
