Martha Kostyuk – About the chances of winning US Open, Federator and Steffy Graf

Ukrainian tennis player Martha Kostyuk In an exclusive interview Sport.ua She spoke about how she recovered after Wimbledon, she shared his plans for the next tournaments this season, including US Open, and answered other questions.

– Martha, how do you recover and restart after Wimbledon?

– I’m best recovering when at home. This is a real restart for me! To cook in your kitchen, spend time with friends, be near the water, if possible.

After London, it was more difficult for me to recover than usual. I became very ill during Wimbledon. But I have already returned to the rhythm: I started training, gradually monitor the load, I restore shape.

– What are your closest plans? What do you plan to do to go out to the peak of the form?

– Now I have a period of preparation for a series of tournaments in North America – the nearest tournament is scheduled in Washington. From there, the American segment of the season begins.

As for the peak of the form, it is a complex and complex process. I work on everything a little: physics, mental stability, recovery. The main thing is to keep the balance and step by step move forward. I believe it will give the result.

-What are your bright filings from under your hands-whose idea? Why do you dare to take the risk during the matches? Do you want to give the courage play in this way?

– It was the idea of my Sandra coach. I don’t take it as a risk. I never use a serving from under my hands when the bill is not in my favor or when I am under pressure. I only do this when I have the advantage – either a comfortable account or confidence in the situation. And in general, it seems to me that it adds to the game character and even an element of the show. It unloads the atmosphere a little.

– In general, what are the closest tournaments you want to declare yourself?

– I come to every tournament with the desire to win. This is my job – to go to the court and teach the most.

– Probably this year one of the main or probably the main tournament will be the US Open! How do you think the chances of getting the most on New York courts? Women’s tennis is unpredictable, and we know that it often shows megaresult those who were not expected at all. Do you have your wonderful potential, do you think is the chances of winning the US Open title or reaching the finals?

– Now I work well and see my progress. I like not only what is visible on the court, but also those internal victories that remain “behind the scenes”. They are seen by my team, my loved ones, and it is very valuable to me.

I believe that everything is moving in the right direction, and I really want it to happen on the US Open. I have every opportunity to go as far as possible, but it should be remembered that on the other hand the grid is also a rival. I don’t play with myself.

– The semifinals will also be a great result? It will be your new record in the Grand Slam tournaments!

– I think so – there is a chance. The US Open semifinals would be a really great result for me. The tournaments of the great sludge always give special motivation. To reach the semifinals would mean setting a personal record and making another important step forward.

– Frenchman Lois Basson reached the semifinals on Rolan Garros. So, in principle, the exit at least to the US Open semifinals can also be a task that is solved?

– Such stories really motivate. Diana reached the semifinals of Australian Open-2024, Lois Basson-on Rolan Harros, Amanda Anisimova played in the Wimbledon finals. This proves again: everything is possible in tennis. I also believe that this path is able to go. This is an ambitious goal and I work every day to be as ready for it.

– You also play a couple! Is there a desire to win something in a paired discharge?

– We always go out for even matches with the desire to win. But with Gabi (Elena-Gabriel Ruse), it is also very important for us to enjoy the game, from the very court, and it is at such moments that we have the best tennis.

We have reached the semifinals twice in the Grand Slam tournaments, and I consider it a really good result. I think we just need to continue moving forward and everything will be.

-Are there any thoughts to play with someone in the mix on the US Open and to have a extravaganza on New York courts?

– I really thought about playing Mikst – it would be interesting. But this time it didn’t work because the couples were already formed. I hope next year there will be such an opportunity.

– What kind of music does you charge for a good game on the court?

– I listen to very different music, but before the matches – almost never. At such moments, I need to come together with thoughts than to turn something in the headphones.

– If you win the US Open and some director wants to take the movie about you, what would you call it?

– Tip of an Iceberg.

– A similar question about song! If in the case of your victory on US Open some author wants to write a song about you, what would you call it?

– It is very difficult to come up with (laughs).

– If you were offered to play in Wimbledon with someone from the big four, then who would be: Novak Dzhokovich, Roger Feder, Raphael Nadal or Andy Marray?

– Feder.

– And if there was an option to play with some legend, who would they choose? I mean stars such as Williams, Karolin Wozniacki, Kim Klisster, Justin Enen, Ameli Moresmo, Steff Graf!

– Steffy Graf.

– If you suddenly win US Open, what can you do unusual? Can, for example, change hair color?

– We already have an agreement in the team – if I win, you will find out! Let it remain a surprise.
