The Council ratified the Agreement on the Creation of Special Tribunal on the Crime of Aggression of the Russian Federation

The Verkhovna Rada ratified an agreement with the Council of Europe, which provides for the creation of a special tribunal on the crime of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Details: “Parliament ratified the project No. 0328 – an agreement between Ukraine and the Council of Europe on the creation of a special tribunal on the crime of aggression against Ukraine,” Zheleznyak said.

He noted that the decision was made by 323 votes for.

Recall:

• The Agreement on the Creation of a Special Tribune on Aggression Crime was signed in the Council of Europe building in Strasbourg on June 25 during the first visit of President Vladimir Zelensky to this organization.
• The future special tribunal will allow investigations against the highest leadership of the state, which is usually protected by personal immunities, but the sentences will be possible only after the loss of positions.
• On July 1, President of Ukraine Zelensky signed documents for ratification of the agreement.
