According to the IAEA, a large number of shots that have repeatedly heard for about an hour, starting from 22:00 local time, “was unusual.”
When bypassing the scene of the next day, the IAEA team saw numerous small shells scattered on the ground near the reactor blocks 5 and 6. No signs of broken windows or other physical damage were detected.
The IAEA command is looking for additional information about the incident.
“Such military activity at or near a large nuclear power plant is clearly unacceptable,” said Gross CEO.
Gross CEO has expressed his “deep concern” by increasing the use of drones near nuclear power plants since the beginning of this year, saying that such weapons have been a threat to nuclear security.
“We observe the escalation of drones during this war, which also affects Ukraine’s nuclear power plants and potentially pose an even greater danger. As I have repeatedly stated, any military attack on a nuclear object threatens nuclear security and should be stopped immediately, ”said Gross CEO.
It should be reminded that at the end of June, the International Atomic Energy Agency during meetings at the Zaporizhzhya NPP with representatives of the occupation administration and the Russian regulator Rostekhnadzor reached the agreement that the launch of power units at the station is impossible because of a constant threat to nuclear security.
